Warts are skin growths caused by human papilloma virus infection. There are several types based on location, such as plantar warts on feet, or flat warts that are thin and small. Common warts are treated in the office, and there are many over-the-counter treatments that are successful, but “tincture of time” is successful also; that is to say that warts often go away without treatment. Some office treatments include freezing and cantharidin application. There are also warty growths that develop with age that do not require treatment.
