Dr. Matthew McEwen is a board-certified dermatologist and fellowship-trained Mohs surgeon. He practices specialized skin cancer surgery (Mohs surgery) as well as general and cosmetic dermatology.
Dr. McEwen completed medical school at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) in Memphis, TN where he graduated with highest honors and as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He stayed at UTHSC in Memphis to complete his internship and dermatology residency, and he served as chief resident his final year.
Following residency, he completed a fully-accredited fellowship in Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology at the Dermatologic SurgiCenter in Philadelphia, PA. During this fellowship, Dr. McEwen received extensive training in the removal of skin cancers using the Mohs surgical technique and aesthetic reconstruction after skin cancer removal.
Dr. McEwen also completed an accredited Cosmetic Dermatologic Surgery fellowship in which he received broad training in a variety of cosmetic procedures. Throughout residency and fellowship training, Dr. McEwen has published many articles in medical journals, and he has been involved in teaching students and dermatology residents.
Dr. McEwen is thrilled to be moving back home to his hometown of Lee’s Summit and join his father, Dr. Gary McEwen, in practice at Lee’s Summit Dermatology Associates. Outside of work, Dr. McEwen enjoys spending time with his wife and children, hiking, reading, playing tennis, and watching Kansas City sports.
